The training covers email fundraising best practices and the fundamentals of writing a really good fundraising email—including the hook, the ask and tactics to strengthen the ask. We’ll examine rhetorical devices and how to use ethos, pathos and logos to write a salient fundraising ask. We will also cover how to analyze the success of a fundraising email using basic CRM and ActBlue data. After a presentation with case studies, participants will break into small groups to undergo an email-writing simulation, wherein they will practice writing an email and analyzing email data.

Sophie Ota

Sophie Ota currently serves as Director of Digital Strategy for New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and also oversees his online fundraising program. She previously helped flip Pennsylvania as Senator John Fetterman’s Digital Director, and raised millions of dollars and impressions running grassroots fundraising and social media programs for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s Senate and presidential primary campaigns.
