Remember when Black LGBTQ youth saved democracy? Organizers in Georgia created one of the largest voter turnout operations in the history of the state—and it started long before the January 2021 runoff election. We’ll look at how savvy, year-round organizing has delivered results, and why LGBTQ and pro-equality voters are a critical, if often-overlooked, part of progressive civic engagement strategies. As we face legislative attacks on transgender youth, voting rights, reproductive justice and more, working together to mobilize our communities is vital. By engaging LGBTQ people and our supporters in voting, advocacy, and organizing, we have the opportunity to shift the balance of power.
