Every email list is a special unicorn, so how do you know what messaging motivates your supporters? What subject lines grab their attention? How do you write the most engaging copy? And are graphic emails really all that? The answers to all of those questions—and more—are an email test away. In this session, you’ll learn the basics of email writing and testing, including crafting copy and testing its effectiveness, what makes an effective email test, what tools you need to start testing, best practices, how to analyze the results, and how to apply those lessons to future emails.

Malinda Frevert

Malinda Frevert has nearly a decade of experience doing digital work for candidates, electoral groups, and advocacy organizations.
She began her career organizing farmers and ranchers agains the Keystone XL pipeline for BOLD Nebraska, has worked for campaigns in Minnesota and Ohio, ran the email program at EMILY’s List for four years, and was deputy digital director of the DSCC.
She currently works at Run The World Digital as a senior digital strategist.

Damien (he/him/his) is the Email Director at Middle Seat.

Damien has served as an email strategist and thought leader in the progressive digital space for more than a decade, working with a diverse array of organizations to build and launch successful, award-winning email campaigns.

He has worked with progressive campaigns and organizations focusing on a wide array of issue areas that include progressive political advocacy, environmental conservation, reproductive rights and gender equality, racial equality and social justice, public health, and animal welfare.
