Electing a Movement

Session Type(s): Special Event

Starts: Friday, Jul. 15 5:30 PM (Eastern)

Ends: Friday, Jul. 15 7:00 PM (Eastern)

Black women have been at the forefront of the Movement for Black Lives, demanding that the voices of their community be represented at all levels of government. Through political and grassroots activism, these activists have successfully brought the issues of economic inequality and criminal justice reform to the attention of all Americans. Join Tishaura Jones, City of St. Louis Treasurer; Cora Faith Walker, candidate for Missouri House District 74; and Kim Foxx, Candidate for Illinois Cook County State Attorney, as they discuss why they chose public office and the policies they will work to implement in their official capacities. EMILY’s List believes in a representative democracy, which is why we work to elect pro-choice Democratic women running for office, including women like these panelists who have diverse perspectives. Sponsored by EMILY’s List.

Panel includes:

  • Zerlina Maxwell, moderator, Progressive Media Director for Hillary for America
  • Tishuara Jones, City of St. Louis Treasurer
  • Kim Foxx, Candidate for Illinois Cook County State Attorney
