And while we all know the importance of skilled and motivated volunteer teams, building, training, and empowering them is both an art and a a science. In this expert-led session you’ll learn best practices for creating a winning team, training them effectively, and measuring their success.

Jemila Mitchell

Jemila Mitchell joins NDTC as Staff Academy’s Associate Director. Jemila is responsible for managing NDTC’s staff training programs Staff Academy and the Democratic Strategy Institute through cohort recruitment, application review, training, and job search support. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Philosophy from Howard University, she entered the teaching world to explore her passion for equitable education and empowering children to have agency over their learning. Following this she shifted to political action organizing with the Democratic Party of Georgia, Field Directing for a Congressional race in Texas, and training across Florida and the country to train organizers for the 2020 Presidential elections. Jemila’s favorite hobbies are practicing yoga, playing soccer, volunteering, creating black-inspired art, and relaxing with her family and vizsla, Shabba.
