Jon Cohen is director of polling and polling editor at The Washington Post. He is responsible for conceptualizing, implementing and analyzing all Post polls, and co-directs the Post-ABC and Post-Kaiser surveys. He instituted the Post’s polling blog, and frequently discusses public opinion on radio and television. He also crunches exit poll numbers, providing guidance for the Post’s election night decision operation. Jon recently served on the executive council of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). In addition to The Washington Post, his work has appeared in Public Opinion Quarterly and other publications. Before joining the Post, he was assistant polling director at ABC News in New York and associate survey director at the Public Policy Institute of California in San Francisco. He holds an M.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
