Itzel’s current work focuses on coordinating the Rapid Response efforts across 5 counties in the Bay Area. She facilitates regional organizing efforts to defend and protect the rights of undocumented community members. Prior to joining Dolores Street Community Services, Itzel worked at a social impact strategy firm called Third Plateau as their Community Manager. As the Community Manager, Itzel was responsible for growing, strengthening, and leveraging the firm’s network of social impact leaders. Itzel received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Studies from UC Santa Cruz. She currently lives in a small but warm apartment in Oakland with her partner, neighbor's cat, and plants.
