Andy Wong (he/him/his) is the Director of Advocacy at Chinese for Affirmative Action - a longstanding community-based civil rights organization in San Francisco. At CAA, Andy drives high-impact campaigns to advance racial equity and justice on behalf of the Chinese American and broader AAPI community. Andy's work also includes substantial engagement with advocacy efforts related to our leadership in Stop AAPI Hate. Before joining CAA, Andy worked to close opportunity gaps for low-income students of color at the Education Trust–West and grow the national movement for gun safety at Giffords – the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and U.S. Senator Mark Kelly. In addition, Andy spearheaded organizing, advocacy, and fundraising efforts for pro-LGBTQ initiatives, and was an early strategist for marriage equality in California. Andy has also worked on a number of electoral campaigns, including managing congressional races in the Sierra Nevada and Silicon Valley and serving on President Obama’s re-election campaign. A native of southern California, Andy is the son of working-class, Chinese immigrants. Andy holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an M.P.A. from Princeton University.
