July 11, 2008--Netroots Nation organizers announced today that Gen. Wesley Clark confirmed his participation in the third annual event, to be held this weekend at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX. The retired four-star general will speak to conference attendees for the third consectutive year as part of Thursday night’s program.

July 11, 2008--Netroots Nation organizers announced today that former Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman will make a court-sanctioned trip to Austin for a panel discussion Friday at 10:30 a.m. Sam Seder of Air America Radio will moderate the conversation.
Siegelman, the only person in the history of Alabama to be elected to serve in all four of the top statewide elected offices, will discuss his case and what it can tell us about the corruption that exists within the U.S. Justice Department. During his term as governor, the DOJ launched multiple investigations that went on year after year until a jury eventually convicted Siegelman of bribery, a decision that was criticized by both Democrats and Republicans.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 11, 2008--Netroots Nation organizers announced today that Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-MD) confirmed her participation in the third annual event, to be held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX. The first African-American woman to represent Maryland in Congress will address convention attendees at a Saturday evening keynote at 8 p.m.
With strong Netroots support, the lawyer and longtime community activist defeated 15-year incumbent Albert Wynn in the 2008 Democratic primary, and, following his resignation, won a special election to fill the remainder of his term. Edwards has led the way in pushing progressive values on issues like net neutrality and the Iraq war, condemning it before it even started.
One of Netroots Nation's goals is to facilitate in-person interaction between our political leaders and the progressive community.
So we're thrilled to announce that Speaker Nancy Pelosi will join us in Austin for a Saturday morning keynote session: "Ask the Speaker."
This won't just be any keynote. Speaker Pelosi wants to hear from you. Instead of simply giving a speech at a podium, the Speaker will be taking your questions and interacting with convention attendees.
Back in January, we asked you to help us organize sessions that accurately reflect the issues that are most important to you, and you answered en masse. Now, we're asking that you tell us what you think on a more regular basis.
Because Netroots Nation is a physical embodiment of the progressive world, we want to ensure that all communities are represented and all voices are heard. To help us achieve that transparency, we've teamed up with a smart new company called Get Satisfaction. With a motto of "people-powered customer service," what company is better suited to help us reach that goal?
Back in January, we asked you to help us organize sessions that accurately reflect the issues that are most important to you, and you answered en masse. We received more than 140 submissions on topics ranging from the environment to Iraq.
After several months of tweaking the schedule, combining ideas in order to create the most well-rounded agenda possible and mixing Netroots experts with fresh, new voices, we’re thrilled to announce that our convention schedule is now live.
Our online agenda is fully searchable by topic and speaker, and you can view by day or by subject. We urge you to use it as a resource for planning your convention schedule.
