Karen Gaffney, PhD has been teaching and training about race, including whiteness, for many years. She’s been an English professor at Raritan Valley Community College in NJ since 2003, where she designed an introductory course on race. She’s recently presented her work at the White Privilege Conference, the Critical Race Theory conference at Yale Law School, the Popular Culture Association, and the Working Class Studies Association. She is working on an introductory guide to systemic racism and racial justice with tools for action tentatively titled Dismantling the Racism Machine: A Manual and Toolbox. She works on racial justice with The Meta Theatre Company at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, the Hunterdon County Anti-Racism Coalition, and through her blog “Divided No Longer” (http://dividednolonger.com/). She was a DFA Scholar at Netroots Nation in 2014.
