Being from Alabama, I understand how communities, especially those in the South, pride themselves on their own. So you can imagine my excitement to read the following headline at al.com, the website for Alabama's three largest newspapers:
Waging Peace: Alabama teen's anti-war Web site creates furor
The profile of 16-year-old Ava Lowery, the force behind the smart, sophisticated website called peacetakescourage.com, is a glimpse into the life of the Alabama teen and one of the stars of YearlyKos Convention 2006. The fact that someone so young is making headlines in a town so conservative is a good sign.
As Gina Cooper noted in her closing remarks to the convention, “...Folks, this is our future."
