Netroots California, November 6, 2010

California is a big state with an even larger slate of problems that need to be solved. It's also home to some of the most important races in the country -- from progressive hero Barbara Boxer's reelection to the oil industry power grab Prop 23. Win or lose, we need to discuss lessons learned and how to take those lessons learned into 2011 and 2012.

That's why we -- along with our friends at the Courage Campaign and Daily Kos -- are hosting a statewide event bringing together activists from across California to break down the results and have a strategic conversation on strengthening our grassroots infrastructure.

We're calling it Netroots California.

Much like our annual national Netroots Nation conference, we'll have trainings, panels and plenty of opportunities to learn, re-charge, socialize and strategize.

Here are the details:

Netroots California: A post-election strategy session for grassroots progressives
Who's invited? Progressive activists from across California
Saturday, November 6, 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
The African American Art & Culture Complex of San Francisco
762 Fulton Street in San Francisco

Register here, tickets are $40.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I arrive? The first session begins at 10 a.m. sharp. We'll begin registration at 8:30 a.m., and we'll have coffee and light snacks on-site to get your day started.

How do I get there? The AAACC is conveniently located near public transit in San Francisco. It's accessible directly from the 5 and 22 MUNI lines and a short walk from the 49 and 47 MUNI lines. It is also a short walk or bus transfer from the Civic Center BART station. If you drive, there is limited parking in an attached lot or along the street.

I'm from out of town. Where do I stay? We have a block of hotel rooms at the Hotel Tomo. The Hotel Tomo is located in Japantown at 1800 Sutter Street, and is about 10 blocks from the venue for Netroots California. The group rate is $109 per room, per night (plus appox 15% room tax). To book your room at the group rate, click here, or call 1-888-822-8666 and ask for the "Netroots California" rate. Reservations must be made by October 19, 2010 in order to guarantee getting the discounted rate. (The group rate is also available 3 days before and after Netroots CA)

What's included in the event fee? You'll get a day-long pass to all of the sessions at Netroots California. We'll have coffee and snacks available in the morning, and lunch will be provided. You'll also be admitted to a sponsored happy hour after the event.

Anything going on afterwards? Thanks to a generous sponsorship by California Federation of Teachers we'll have a happy hour immediately following the event from 6:30 through 8:30 p.m. at Yoshii's. It's located at 1330 Fillmore Street, just a few blocks walk from the African American Art & Culture Complex.

Will the event have wireless access? Unfortunately the facility we're using doesn't have the capability to handle hundreds of bloggers and activists using their internal wifi network. If you need internet access during the event, you'll need to rely on your phone, aircard or mifi network. Power outlets will also be scarce so bring a power strip and make friends.

Who will be attending? Activists, bloggers and organizers from around the state will attend. We expect to have staff and leaders from advocacy, labor, non-profit and technology organizations based all over California.

My question isn't answered here. How can I get help? Shoot us an email at registration (at) netrootsnation (dot) org and we'll be happy to help out.

What's the tag/hashtag for Netroots California? #NetrootsCA or NetrootsCA.
