Sometimes we progressives need to laugh to keep from crying. Sometimes we get the last laugh, and thus laugh loudest. And sometimes, we just want to celebrate the fact that we're funnier than conservatives.

Whatever your motivation, come out and laugh...liberally. Our all-star line-up has been seen on Comedy Central, contributed to the Onion and been kicked off Fox News. Check them out live.

Featuring comedy and video from Netroots Nation veterans Baratunde Thurston (The Onion), Lee Camp (Comedy Central), Katie Halper (Huffington Post), Matt Filipowicz (Headzup) and newcomers Elon James White (This Week in Blackness) and Jamie Kilstein (Citizen Radio).

This show is brought to you by Laughing Liberally, saving democracy one laugh at a time. Laughing Liberally tour nationally and sets up Laughing Liberally Locals around the country to give comedians a chance to work political material and build progressive audiences. It is part of the national Living Liberally network.

Baratunde Thurston

Baratunde Thurston is a comedian, author and vigilante pundit who successfully combines technology, politics and comedy. He co-founded the black political blog, Jack & Jill Politics in the summer of 2006, works as the web editor at The Onion and hosts Popular Science's Future Of on Science Channel. Baratunde has contributed to Vanity Fair, The UK Independent and WNYC, and with over 30,000 followers he tweets very, very hard.

Mr. Thurston, which he goes by in his bio, has often used satire as an expression of his activism and technology as a medium for that expression. He has self-published three books, including Keep Jerry Falwell Away From My Oreo Cookies and is currently writing How To Be Black, which will be published by Harper.

Baratunde was nominated for the Bill Hicks Award for Thought Provoking Comedy, declared a Champion of the First Amendment by Iowa State University, and called “someone I need to know” by Barack Obama. His stage presence has earned him speaking duties at the National Conference for Media Reform, Netroots Nation, South by Southwest Interactive & Film and Web 2.0 Expo. He has been featured various media outlets including ABC, NPR, BBC, CNN, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, C-SPAN and ComedyCentral.com.

Baratunde resides in Brooklyn, lives in The Internet and has over 30 years experience being black.

Lee Camp

Most of the liberal community became familiar with comedian Lee Camp when he went live on Fox News and called them a "parade of propaganda and festival of ignorance." The clip went viral, garnering millions of views. Camp also writes humor and produces videos for the front page of the Huffington Post as well as contributing to The Onion newspaper. He’s also a prolific stand-up comic, having headlined over 500 colleges across the country and performing regularly with Laughing Liberally.
You might have seen Lee Camp on Comedy Central, PBS, SpikeTV, E! network, ABC’s “Good Morning America,” or Showtime’s “The Green Room.” He is also featured in the new bestselling book Satiristas! by Paul Provenza. George Carlin’s daughter Kelly recently had this to say: “Since my dad died, I’ve been concerned about who’s going to keep the torch alive, who’s going to keep it lit. And I saw Lee, and I was completely f*cking blown away by the balls he has. I thought ‘Hey, that’s like my dad.’ Three things about Lee really remind me of my father. One of which is that he’s a thinking person’s comic. Secondly, he may just piss you off a little. But the most important thing is that he’s really f*cking funny.”
