This panel will show how randomized controlled experiments have been used to determine what works and what does not in voter contact. MoveOn, the AFL-CIO, the Analyst Institute and State Voices will share some of what they have learned using this scientific method so you can increase your fundraising and turnout, persuade voters and promote ballot initiatives.

Regina Schwartz

Regina Schwartz is the Director of Outreach and Training at the Analyst Institute. She has been with the Analyst institute for three years and in her current capacity she has conducted hundreds of trainings across the United States on scientifically proven methods for increasing voter turnout and creating more effective political communications strategies. Regina is passionate about sharing best practices to encourage and facilitate civic engagement. Prior to joining the Analyst Institute Regina worked in the Washington Office of Kirsten Gillibrand. She has also worked as a field coordinator and has had experience with a number of progressive organizations and campaigns. Regina graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Social Studies.

Matt Lackey

Matthew Lackey is the Senior Political Strategist for the AFL-CIO, where he coordinates and manages strategic research and analytics through a robust data-driven program. Previously Matthew served as: an analyst on the Presidential Transition Team in the department of Health and Human Services, a lead analyst for Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign, a nuclear engineer, and a national robotics champion. He has spent over eight years using mathematical analysis and data driven decisions to optimize systems and programs for the private sector, international competitions, and progressive causes.

Daniel Mintz

Daniel Mintz is a Campaign Director at MoveOn who works on economic and financial reform campaigns. He also directs MoveOn's research and analytics efforts. He's worked with MoveOn since 2005, and in 2006, was responsible for creating MoveOn's Support Corps--a group of 200 supervolunteers who responded to more than 45,000 requests for tech support during the midterm elections. In 2008, Daniel ran the advertising contest "Obama in 30 Seconds," and headed MoveOn's merchandising efforts, distributing more than 8 million t-shirts, stickers, buttons and posters.

Becca Rueble

Becca Rueble is Communications & Technology Director for State Voices, where she facilitates the sharing of best practices and resources within State Voices’ network of 501(c)(3) organizations, promotes the innovative work happening at the 16 state civic engagement tables, and works to get groundbreaking technology into the hands of grassroots organizations in the states. Before joining State Voices in 2008, she focused on increasing women’s representation in the STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) fields – working with several programs at the University of Michigan.
