Tina Lee

I am a native San Franciscan tinkering at the intersection of democracy, civic engagement and technology. I believe government can be a generative platform for social change. Therefore, I design systems, tools and learning environments aimed at increasing civic participation through 21st-century citizenship skills-building and the creation of new opportunities for engagement. I employ user-centric, design thinking to create solutions that leverage the power of technology to expand the public sphere, bring greater transparency and accountability to the governance process, attract more voices to public discourse, and empower citizens to mobilize and act collectively.

I'm currently at fellow at the City of San Francisco's Department of Technology Services, working directly with the CIO and the Director of Emerging Technologies to advance the City's open government initiatives such as DataSF. My professional experience includes stints in management consulting, business development, and sales and recruiting in the technology industry, both for private and non-profit organizations. In addition to serving on the advisory board of Netroots Nation, I serve on the board of APIAvote, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to increasing political participation by Asian and Pacific Islander American communities.
