This new medium is rising faster than any other social networking platform, but is it destined to be overloaded with celebrity gossip and trivia or will it become a revolutionary tool for social change? We will explore it's strengths and limitations as we work to separate the hype from Reality on using Twitter to organizing online.

Jen Nedeau

Jen Nedeau is a social media consultant, progressive activist, feminist speaker and writer. She works full-time as the Director of Digital Strategy at Air America Media (www.airamerica.com) and also serves as the Editor of the Women's Rights blog at Change.org (www.womensrights.change.org). In her free time, she volunteers for New Leaders Council, a progressive leadership training program. You can follow her on Twitter @HumanFolly.

Matt Blizek

Matt is the National Field Director at Democracy for America. He was born and raised in rural Iowa and first got involved in politics at 19 while attending the University of Iowa. In 2001 he managed his first campaign in an attempt to elect a UI student to the Iowa City Council. Since then he has done Field, Fundraising and Online Organizing work for numerous campaigns including the DNC, MoveOn.org, Russ Feingold, Jon Tester, and the No On 1 campaign for marriage equality in Maine. For the last four years Matt has managed national field and training programs for Democratic activists and candidates at Democracy for America. Since joining DFA he has organized over 84 campaign trainings in 37 states, training over 8,000 progressives to become better activists, campaign staff or candidates.

Adam Green

Adam Green is co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (BoldProgressives.org), a 750,000-member grassroots online organization that helps elect bold progressive members of Congress and advocate on progressive policy issues.

For four years, he worked as Director of Strategic Campaigns and Civic Communications Director for MoveOn.org. During this time, he spearheaded the “Open Debate Coalition” with Prof. Lawrence Lessig and online voices on the left and right, which successfully opposed some of the top-down practices that surround presidential debates.

Previously, Adam served as the Democratic National Committee’s press secretary in Oregon for the 2004 presidential campaign, communications director for the New Jersey Democratic Party in 2003 and 2004, and press secretary for Sen. Tim Johnson's re-election campaign in South Dakota in 2002.

Adam is a graduate of GWU’s political communication program -- where he’s recently taught a course on Internet & Politics -- and received his law degree from the University of Virginia.
