Paul Krugman, the Princeton scholar, New York Times columnist (and Netroots Nation 2008 panelist!), was awarded the Nobel prize in economics for his analysis of how economies of scale can affect international trade patterns.
Krugman is the second Netroots Nation alumnus to win a Nobel--Al Gore was awarded the prestigious prize last year for his work on global warming.
