First-time Netroots attendee? Not the hugest fan of conferences? Scared about meeting all these people? This session’s for you. Networking gets a bad rap, but we’ll unpack some tips and tricks, as well as workshop specific strategies for getting past our own insecurities to further the goals we have, the goals of our organization, and the goals of the movement.
John is an actor and filmmaker from Los Angeles, and also serves as the head consultant for Brougher Strategies, a communications and media strategy firm. Before starting his own firm, he served as Chief Operating Officer for ShareProgress Inc., Chief Technology Officer for NARAL Pro-Choice America, the political arm of the pro-choice movement, and Chief Technology Officer for the Wendy Davis for Governor campaign, and has been working with technology and communications for over a decade. In the past, John has worked with a variety of progressive campaigns and organizations, including NGP VAN, Salsa Labs, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and the Democratic Governors Association (DGA). John has been a New Leaders Council (NLC), Democracy for America (DFA) and New Organizing Institute (NOI) trainer, has served as a speaker for many conferences and panels, and his work appears in a variety of outlets around the world.
